Bed and breakfast or Self-catering accommodation in the heart of the Scottish Borders
By the Green in Ancrum Village, ½ mile from A68, 1 Mile from St Cuthbert's way, and 100 yards from village pub serving real ales and excellent evening meals.
Accredited Walkers and Cyclists Welcome
Since we do not live in Harden Vale, the whole of the house is available for our guests to use. Parties and families can relax in the privacy of their "own" house
There is off-street parking in front of the house for 2 cars, and bicycles can be secured in the garden at the rear
For our B&B guests, breakfast is served in the living room downstairs from 7 to 8.30 am. The fully equipped kitchen is available for making tea & coffee. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to make packed lunches, and supplies of fresh rolls, etc. are available from the shop next door

The Cottage

Harden Vale is part of a row of houses built in about 1750. Each house had a stone barn in front, where the loom was housed in the days that flax cultivation was important in this area. The barn belonging to Harden Vale is the only one left in the village, now restored and let out as an office

The Garden Room - Double/Family room with en suite bathroom with bath and shower, TV & video. The king size double bed can be made up as twin beds, and a sofa converts in to a 3rd bed, if required. Direct access to a delightful garden at the rear of the house

Kitchen & Drying Room - The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, etc. The separate drying room is much appreciated by our walking guests. A de-humidifier helps dry rain-soaked clothes and shoes overnight

- There is a one-off setting up charge of £20 per booking
- Minimum self catering rental is for 3 nights (5 nights at Christmas & New Year)
- Rental periods can start on any day of the week
- Bedding, towels, heating, etc. included
- We require a 50% deposit for self-catering charges at the time of booking with remainder payable on entry. Deposits are not refundable

- We accept payment by cash (sterling or euro), UK bank cheque, Debit card or Sterling Travellers cheques
- We accept all major Credit cards with £3 surcharge per transaction
- We reserve the right to charge 50% of the first night charge for cancellations within 2 months and to charge for the first night for cancellations within 1 week
